MAN turns up the pressure, EDF opens the wallet

€240 million on the table, including €80 million for road freight transport.

A plan that hits the mark. On one side, €30 million to help purchase electric trucks. On the other, €50 million to strengthen the heavy-duty charging network. In other words: we are finally tackling the two real barriers of the sector.

For Jean-Yves Kerbrat, the message is crystal clear: “It’s a very positive signal for the entire industry.” But he warns: without fast and consistent deployment, the momentum could fade.

On the ground, transport operators don’t run on promises. What they want is something concrete. And here, things are starting to shift. Thanks to energy savings certificates (CEE), a MAN customer can aim for up to €15,000 in savings, or around €250 per month. Enough to start tipping the balance against diesel.

But MAN is not stopping at the truck. With its MAN EDF 360° offer, the manufacturer is playing the full-package card: financing, energy, charging, operations… a turnkey approach to simplify the transition.

This is THE issue. And everyone knows it. No reliable charging network = no long-distance electric transport. Period. Even today, many operators hesitate due to lack of visibility. Where to charge? How long does it take? At what cost?

By announcing a doubling of public charging stations for heavy trucks, EDF is sending a long-awaited signal: that of a network finally starting to take shape at a national scale.

For MAN Truck & Bus, the stars are finally aligning. Purchase incentives, global solutions, developing infrastructure… the sector now has what it needs to shift into a higher gear.

One question remains: will transport operators step on the accelerator?
