Norbert Kiss Completes the Clean Sweep at Slovakia Ring and Extends Championship Lead
The second round of the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship turned into a masterclass from Norbert Kiss. In front of a large crowd of Hungarian supporters at Slovakia Ring, the Révész Racing driver claimed all four race victories and significantly extended his lead at the top of the championship standings.
After dominating the opening round at Misano, the reigning champion once again proved to be the benchmark of the field. Having already won Races 1 and 2 on Saturday, Kiss continued his perfect run on Sunday with victories in both Race 3 and Race 4.
Race 3 featured a red flag period and several dramatic moments. Kiss made an excellent start and quickly established himself at the front before controlling the restart. Behind him, a fierce battle developed between Sascha Lenz and Jochen Hahn, with Hahn eventually retiring from the race. The result allowed Kiss to further increase his championship advantage.
Race 4 delivered even more excitement. Starting from the partially reversed grid, Mark Taylor looked on course for a memorable overall victory after taking the lead. However, under constant pressure from Kiss, the British driver made a small mistake in the closing laps. The Hungarian seized the opportunity and completed the pass on the final lap to secure a fourth victory from four races.
“It was an amazing weekend with four wins. I’m really happy to achieve this here in Slovakia, which feels almost like a home race with so many Hungarian fans,” said Norbert Kiss after the race. “I’m also very proud of Révész Racing because the team once again did an incredible job.”
Mark Taylor Takes Control of the Chrome Trophy
In the Chrome category, Mark Taylor enjoyed one of the strongest weekends of his career. The British driver claimed Chrome victories in Races 1, 2 and 4 and leaves Slovakia Ring leading the Chrome standings with 81 points.
After struggling for pace at the start of the weekend, Taylor and his team successfully turned things around. “We were among the slowest on Friday. The whole team came together, found the issue and pushed in the right direction,” explained the Briton.
Race 3 Chrome honours went to Bradley Smith, who held off intense pressure to secure an important victory for his team after a challenging start to the season.
Kiss Builds a Strong Championship Advantage
Following his perfect weekend, Norbert Kiss now leads the championship with 106 points. He holds a comfortable 36-point advantage over Sascha Lenz in second place on 70 points. Antonio Albacete sits third with 62 points, ahead of Jochen Hahn on 57 and Steffi Halm on 50.
In the Chrome standings, Mark Taylor leads with 81 points ahead of John Newell on 78 and Steffen Faas on 60.
The Slovakian weekend also confirmed the successful introduction of Goodyear’s new 2026 racing tyre, which incorporates 60 percent sustainable materials and is used by every competitor in the championship.
After two rounds out of seven, Norbert Kiss has already established himself as the man to beat in the title fight. However, with five rounds still remaining, attention now turns to the Nürburgring, which hosts Round 3 of the season from 9 to 12 July.
