Electrification continues to expand into areas where few expected it to succeed. Proof of that comes with the first deployment of a Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 configured as a car carrier, now operated in Denmark by logistics company Dansk Auto Logik.

On paper, the configuration makes perfect sense. In real-world operations, new vehicle deliveries often involve urban areas and increasingly restricted city centers. Silence, zero local emissions, easier access… electric powertrains tick all the right boxes here — but not only that.

Based on a 4x2 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 tractor coupled to a two-axle trailer, the combination can transport up to six vehicles.

One particularly interesting detail is the dedicated battery installed on the trailer to power the hydraulic loading systems, preserving the truck’s driving range.

In real operation, this car carrier is already running on a route of more than 380 km between Denmark and Germany, using en-route charging and dedicated depot infrastructure. This is genuine operational use — far beyond a simple demonstration vehicle.

Beyond the symbolic aspect, this deployment marks a logical evolution. After urban distribution and regional transport, electric trucks are now moving into more specialized segments such as automotive logistics.

And with more than 600 kWh of batteries and a claimed range of around 500 km, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 now appears capable of handling this kind of mission.

This type of application mainly demonstrates one thing: electric mobility is no longer limited to traditional use cases. It is adapting, specializing, and responding to very concrete operational challenges.

Infrastructure and economic viability remain key questions, of course, but things are evolving rapidly. With recent government measures combined with a persistent energy crisis, one thing is certain: on the ground, the industry is starting to change.
