Allison Transmission Highlights Its Automatic Transmissions for Buses at Busworld Turkey 2026

At Busworld Turkey 2026, taking place from June 17 to 19 at the Istanbul Expo Center, Allison Transmission will showcase its full range of fully automatic transmissions and propulsion systems dedicated to passenger transport. The supplier aims to highlight technologies designed to improve operational efficiency, passenger comfort, and reduce the total cost of ownership for operators.

Held every two years, Busworld Turkey brings together the leading international players in the bus and public transport industry. For the 2026 edition, Allison will exhibit a complete range of solutions adapted to multiple vehicle segments, from 6.5-meter minibuses to 12-meter city buses, including 7- to 10-meter midibuses.

Turkey has established itself as one of the world’s leading bus manufacturing centers thanks to a high-performing industrial network and a strong supplier base. Turkish manufacturers export extensively to Europe, as well as to the Middle East, Africa, and North America.

Manufacturers such as Anadolu Isuzu, Otokar, and TEMSA now occupy an important position in international markets, both in urban and intercity segments as well as in coach and alternative powertrain vehicles. Several of these manufacturers will also display vehicles equipped with Allison transmissions in Istanbul.

Allison Transmission continues to develop partnerships with passenger transport vehicle manufacturers, particularly in Turkey. Its fully automatic transmissions already equip numerous applications worldwide, ranging from city buses and coaches to shuttle buses and personnel transport vehicles.

The Torqmatic 1000™ and 2000™ Series range targets light and medium-duty vehicles, with engine compatibility ranging from 210 to 365 hp and torque capacity reaching 780 Nm. For heavier applications, the 3000™ Series covers power ratings from 210 to 380 hp and can transmit up to 1,650 Nm of torque.

Among the highlights is Allison’s nine-speed transmission, specifically designed for midibus applications. Presented as the industry’s only fully automatic transmission offering nine forward gears, it supports engines up to 300 hp and a maximum torque of 895 Nm. Thanks to its three overdrive gears, this solution aims to improve fuel efficiency while reducing maintenance costs, particularly in urban environments characterized by frequent stop-and-go operation.

Allison will also display its T3375R xFE™ fully automatic transmission, widely used in the 12-meter city bus segment.

In urban applications, Allison transmissions are designed to meet the most demanding operating conditions: dense traffic, low average speeds, and frequent stops.

The proprietary Continuous Power Technology™ maintains uninterrupted power delivery during gear changes, ensuring smooth acceleration and reducing shift shock. This feature helps reduce driver fatigue while improving passenger comfort.

The Allison torque converter also optimizes power transfer to the wheels, promoting more efficient starts and better vehicle maneuverability. Unlike manual or automated manual transmissions (AMTs), Allison fully automatic transmissions experience no torque interruption during gear shifts.

The absence of a dry clutch is another major advantage. This design eliminates clutch wear and associated maintenance costs while reducing stress on the entire driveline. According to the manufacturer, this architecture helps extend component life and lower the total cost of ownership. The optional hydraulic retarder also contributes to reducing service brake wear.

Throughout the exhibition, Allison Transmission teams will welcome visitors at Booth B60, Hall 2, to present their technical solutions and share their expertise in optimizing operational performance in passenger transport.
