Scania joins the UGAP catalog and opens a new public-sector market

Since September 2024, Scania has been officially listed directly in the UGAP catalog for its heavy-duty chassis range above 19 tonnes.

A first for the manufacturer, which now gains easier access to local authorities and organizations subject to French public procurement regulations. The first results are already visible: nearly 400 orders are reportedly linked to this integration in 2025.

A real opening toward public authorities

Scania’s offering is structured around three main categories: rigid trucks, electric vehicles, and tractor units. Rigid trucks represent the largest part of the market, with a deliberately modular approach.

Thanks to its vehicle configuration system, Scania can cover a wide variety of applications including firefighting, construction, recovery vehicles, concrete mixers, horse transport, off-road operations, and even military applications.

Diesel, biogas, electric: every energy solution available

The UGAP catalog now includes 18 specifications, covering GVWs from 19 to 40 tonnes and GCWs up to 80 tonnes, with several cab options and a broad range of powertrains.

Diesel, HVO/xTL, B100, biogas, and electric solutions are all available, with outputs reaching up to 500 hp for diesel models, 460 hp for biogas versions, and 450 kW for electric trucks. The BEV models claim a driving range between 320 and 520 km.

Public authorities aim to decarbonize services

The electric offering mainly targets municipalities and public operators engaged in the decarbonization of waste collection services.

Scania highlights low noise levels, cab comfort, turning radius, and ergonomics for urban operations, particularly refuse collection trucks.

A simplified procurement process

For public authorities, the main advantage remains administrative simplification. There is no longer any need to launch a dedicated public tender process.

Municipalities, departments, or public organizations can now simply consult the UGAP catalog, define the vehicle specification together with the Scania network, and place the order directly through the central purchasing body.

For Scania France, whose vehicles are assembled in Angers, this new listing is becoming a major commercial opportunity within the public-sector market.
