MAN Truck & Bus invests €1.2 billion in Poland

MAN Truck & Bus is continuing to expand its European production network with a major investment programme in Poland. The manufacturer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Polish government covering investments of approximately €1.2 billion to further develop its production site in Kraków.
The investment forms part of the company’s MAN2030+ strategy, which includes preparing the next generation of vehicles across MAN’s European manufacturing network.
Kraków at the heart of MAN’s industrial strategy
Until 2030, the investment programme will focus on expanding the Kraków plant, preparing production of the next-generation truck platform based on the TRATON Modular System (TMS) and increasing the site’s manufacturing capacity.
The project includes the construction of new body-in-white and paint shop facilities, as well as the expansion of cab assembly operations. New state-of-the-art and sustainable production facilities will be built to manufacture painted truck bodies.
Once completed, the production area at Kraków will increase from approximately 130,000 square metres to 270,000 square metres, more than doubling the site’s current footprint. According to MAN, the expansion will significantly increase the level of value creation at the plant while preparing it for the production of the next generation of trucks.
The manufacturer also states that the project will strengthen Kraków’s strategic role within its European production network while creating the foundation for future investments and additional employment opportunities in the region.
Kraków becomes MAN’s second electrified truck plant
Alongside the expansion of its manufacturing operations, MAN is continuing the electrification of its production facilities. From mid-July 2026, the Kraków plant will begin series production of the MAN eTGL, the manufacturer’s fully electric light-duty truck.
With production of both the MAN eTGL and the MAN eTGM, Kraków will become MAN’s second electrified truck manufacturing site after Munich, where the heavy-duty MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS are produced.
This expansion means MAN will offer a complete battery-electric truck portfolio ranging from 12 to 50 tonnes, covering applications from urban distribution to long-haul transport.
Supporting the transition to zero-emission transport
Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, highlighted the strategic importance of the investment.
“With these investments in Poland, we are further expanding our presence in Europe. Kraków has played an important role in our production network for many years. The expansion into a full-scale manufacturing plant and the start of series production of our electric light-duty truck range position us strongly for the ongoing transformation of the industry and prepare us well for the future.”
Michael Kobriger, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics, also underlined the significance of launching the MAN eTGL.
“The launch of the MAN eTGL is another important milestone on the path to zero-emission mobility. This is about much more than just the truck: it’s about an innovative product and a reliable service offering that provides our customers with optimal support during this transformation.”
With this €1.2 billion investment programme, MAN Truck & Bus continues to strengthen its European industrial footprint while accelerating both the electrification of its manufacturing sites and the expansion of its zero-emission truck portfolio.
