Mack Trucks strengthens its commitment to American motorsport with IMSA
The American manufacturer has just signed a three-year agreement with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), the organisation that oversees the main professional sports car competitions in North America. Ten Mack Pioneer trucks will join the fleet responsible for supporting the organisation at the circuits.
Mack Trucks continues to rely on motorsport to demonstrate the capabilities of its vehicles and strengthen its visibility. After NASCAR, the bulldog brand is now an official partner of IMSA under a three-year agreement.
This partnership provides for the integration of ten Mack Pioneer trucks into the IMSA fleet. Configured with a 76-inch High-Roof sleeper cab, the first vehicles will appear in the paddocks before the end of 2026.
They will then accompany the entire championship across North America, particularly at the circuits hosting the season’s most iconic events.
A real travelling city
These ten Mack Pioneer trucks will carry out various missions that are essential to the operation of race weekends: transport of equipment and freight, competition control, technical inspections, data analysis, engineering activities, marketing and commercial operations.
At each round, IMSA effectively deploys what it describes as a true “travelling city of motorsport”. This mobile organisation must be dismantled, transported and then rebuilt at each circuit.
Mack vehicles had already been involved for several years in transporting IMSA equipment. This new agreement therefore formalises and strengthens a collaboration that has already been proven in the field.
“IMSA operates at a sustained pace, moving people, equipment and technology across several thousand kilometres each season,” emphasises John Doonan, President of IMSA. According to him, the arrival of the new Mack Pioneer trucks will help consolidate the logistics organisation required for teams, manufacturers, partners and spectators.
515 hp Pioneers
The ten tractor units will be equipped with the Mack MP13 engine developing 515 hp, combined with the Mack mDRIVE 12-speed automated transmission. They will also receive Mack Protect, the set of driver assistance systems offered by the manufacturer.
The cab will notably feature a FlexSuite sleeper area, a refrigerator, a pre-installation for a microwave as well as a multimedia system integrating audio and navigation. Equipment designed to improve driver comfort during the numerous journeys that punctuate the season.
The MyMack and Mack Integrated Uptime connected services will also allow Mack Trucks and IMSA to monitor vehicle performance and availability throughout the championship.
“The formalisation of this partnership recognises what Mack trucks have already demonstrated on the road: they are capable of handling long distances, a demanding schedule and the permanent constraints of an IMSA season,” explains David Galbraith, Vice President of Mack Trucks responsible for brand and global marketing.
With this agreement, Mack Trucks complements its commitment alongside NASCAR and strengthens its presence in two major worlds of North American motorsport. A particularly interesting showcase for the Pioneer, the new flagship road truck of the American brand belonging to the Volvo Group.
