Volvo Trucks surpasses 10,000 gas-powered trucks sold: LNG proven on the road

Volvo Trucks has announced that it has surpassed the milestone of 10,000 gas-powered trucks delivered worldwide since launching this technology in 2018.
A symbolic achievement, driven by a record year in 2025 for the manufacturer in terms of gas truck sales — supported by mature products, improved access to fuel infrastructure, and competitive operating costs.
A technology already tested and validated by TruckStop

At TruckStop, the rise of LNG goes beyond the numbers. We already had the opportunity to validate it in real-world conditions through an exceptional long-distance test carried out with a Volvo FH LNG, driven all the way to the North Cape.
A full-scale test that demonstrated LNG’s ability to meet the demands of long-haul transport, delivering efficiency and driving comfort perfectly aligned with operators’ expectations.
Next up: an LNG trial on French roads
And the journey continues. In a few weeks, TruckStop will publish a new field test — this time in Occitanie — once again behind the wheel of a Volvo FH running on LNG.
This trial will focus on real operating conditions in France, combining regional and long-haul routes to analyze fuel consumption, range, refueling logistics, road behavior, and the day-to-day economic relevance of LNG.
Europe leading the way in gas adoption

From a market perspective, the United Kingdom remains the leading country for Volvo gas truck sales, ahead of Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, and France. Other regions, such as India and Latin America, are also showing steady growth.
Volvo’s gas engines, available on the FM, FH, and FH Aero ranges, are compatible with both fossil LNG and bio-LNG — a renewable fuel produced from organic waste. With a range of up to 1,000 km, these vehicles are perfectly suited to both regional and long-haul transport operations.
Central to Volvo’s low-carbon roadmap

Based on HPDI technology, derived from the D13 diesel engine, Volvo’s gas powertrain delivers performance equivalent to diesel while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions. When running on bio-LNG, reductions can reach up to 100% from well to wheel, depending on the energy mix and production pathway.
This solution is fully aligned with Volvo Trucks’ ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, alongside battery-electric vehicles, fuel cell technology, and renewable fuels.
Between sales figures and real-world testing, the message is clear: LNG is no longer a promise — it is an operational solution.
