DAF Trucks is expanding its electric truck portfolio by introducing new configurations dedicated to construction applications, with FAT 6x4 and FAW 8x4 Electric rigids designed for the most demanding operations.

With these new models, DAF demonstrates that zero-emission transport is now fully compatible with harsh environments, heavy loads, and the specific constraints of public works.

FAT 6x4 Electric: purpose-built for construction sites

The DAF FAT Electric is based on a 6x4 configuration with a double rear drive axle, ensuring maximum traction on rough terrain. With a GVW of up to 29 tonnes, it is primarily aimed at tippers, concrete mixers, and applications requiring high pulling power.

Available with 19- or 21-tonne tandem sets, the FAT Electric can be specified with single reduction or hub reduction axles, as well as air suspension or leaf springs — allowing it to adapt precisely to site-specific requirements.

FAW 8x4 Electric: maximum capacity and high maneuverability

For even heavier-duty applications, DAF offers the FAW Electric, an 8x4 configuration combining a double drive tandem with a rear steering axle. The result: high payload capacity, a GVW of up to 37 tonnes, while maintaining remarkable maneuverability.

The rear steering axle significantly improves handling in confined areas — a major advantage on urban or congested construction sites.

Electric drivetrains designed for heavy-duty work

DAF’s electric construction trucks are equipped with PACCAR EX-D1 and EX-D2 motors, delivering outputs from 170 to 350 kW (230 to 480 hp) and high torque levels suitable for loaded starts and steep gradients.

The 3-speed direct transmission with planetary system ensures:

• High efficiency

• Low weight

• Fast and smooth gear shifts

The one-pedal driving function, with adjustable regenerative braking, enhances both comfort and energy efficiency during stop-and-go site operations.

LFP batteries and bodybuilder-friendly chassis

The FAT and FAW Electric models can be fitted with 3 to 5 LFP battery packs, offering capacities of up to 525 kWh. These cobalt- and nickel-free batteries provide long service life, high thermal stability, and come with an 8-year warranty. They can be regularly charged to 100% without affecting longevity.

The modular battery positioning frees up chassis space, simplifying the integration of bodywork. A 650 V electric PTO is also available to power tippers, cranes, or auxiliary equipment.

With these new electric Construction trucks, DAF proves that zero-emission solutions can now thrive on building sites — without compromising robustness, traction, or productivity.
