Eppelheim, world capital of professional driving in September

The countdown has begun! From 9 to 12 September 2026, Eppelheim, in the Rhine-Neckar region of Germany, will host the 33rd edition of the UICR Professional Driver World Championship (PDWC). For four days, the best professional drivers from different countries and sectors of the transport industry will compete in events showcasing their expertise.

On 29 July, the local organiser, MSC Eppelheim e.V. im ADAC, held a press conference to present the event and reveal the behind-the-scenes preparations.

Safety, precision and professionalism

Much more than a simple competition, the PDWC aims to highlight the skills and responsibilities that characterise the profession of professional driver.

Participants will be assessed in particular on their theoretical knowledge, pre-departure vehicle inspection, precision driving, vehicle control, professional driving and eco-driving.

All these events will make it possible to separate the competitors, but above all to remind us of the importance of the role played every day by drivers in the functioning of our economies.

Promoting an essential profession

Through this world championship, the UICR also aims to promote road safety, encourage exchanges between professionals and strengthen the image of a profession that is essential to the transport of people and goods. Based on common foundations with the championship for young road drivers that we have here at home, this global event is open to all professionals in the sector and aims to highlight our profession.

As preparations enter their final stages, Eppelheim is therefore preparing to host a truly international gathering centred around professional driving.

The PDWC 2026 will take place from 9 to 12 September, with an objective set by the UICR: to establish a global standard for safety, competence and responsibility behind the wheel.
