In Vierzon, Voltix inaugurates a heavy-duty vehicle charging station unprecedented in France

TruckStop was present in Vierzon for the inauguration of Voltix’s first high-capacity charging station.

Presented as the most powerful in France, it has four MCS charging points capable of simultaneously accommodating several electric heavy-duty vehicles.

Four heavy-duty vehicles charged simultaneously

Voltix has just reached an important milestone in the development of heavy-duty electric mobility. Martin Jurkiewicz, Development Director, and Louis Du Pasquier, Managing Director of the company, officially inaugurated the first station in the network in Vierzon.

The site is equipped with four Megawatt Charging System (MCS) charging points, a technology designed to deliver the power required by electric heavy-duty vehicles operating over long distances.

The event brought together elected officials, numerous hauliers as well as the five main European heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers, demonstrating the profession’s growing interest in these new infrastructures.

The trucks exist, the infrastructure must follow

We often highlight this at TruckStop, but manufacturers now have electric ranges capable of meeting a growing share of road transport needs. The vehicles exist and the first feedback from drivers is generally positive, particularly in terms of silence, comfort and the absence of vibrations. The main obstacle to the development of electric trucks therefore remains charging infrastructure, which is still insufficient to allow hauliers to confidently consider long-distance operations.

The Vierzon station provides a first concrete response. Transports Lahaye has also been using it daily since September 2026 as part of long-distance journeys.

Vierzon, a strategic location

The choice of Vierzon is no coincidence. Located at the crossroads of several major roads, the city occupies a strategic position for freight flows crossing France.

The station is located on a rest area dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles. During charging, drivers can take advantage of the facilities of the “La Grotte” roadside restaurant and, if necessary, can even wash their vehicle combinations afterwards at the Lavatrans washing centre. An environment that makes it possible to combine charging time with breaks, meals or vehicle maintenance.

For Nathalie Lenski, President of the Vierzon-Sologne-Berry community of municipalities, this station illustrates the effectiveness of a partnership between public and private stakeholders. The project, which has been locally supported since April 2024, also strengthens the attractiveness of the Sologne Technology Park and its positioning in the energy transition.

Around twenty stations announced

Voltix plans to deploy around twenty stations on the main French road routes over the coming years. The project notably benefits from the support of the European Union, Epopée Gestion and Ademe Investissement, with the participation of industrial partners such as Easy Charge, Eurovia, Vinci and Enedis.

The inauguration of Vierzon shows that things are finally starting to move. But to achieve the decarbonisation targets for road transport, the deployment rate will have to accelerate rapidly.

The manufacturers are ready and the trucks are available. It is now necessary to double down on efforts to build a network that is sufficiently dense, powerful and reliable. With this first station, Voltix is contributing to a project that has become essential for the future of road transport.
