Scania R 500: 360 km put to the test in southern France!
For this new TruckStop road test, Fabien Calvet takes the wheel of the Scania R 500 on our benchmark route through Occitanie, in southern France.
Highways, rolling roads, villages, steep climbs, tight bends and long descents: over nearly 360 km, the Scania R 500 faces a demanding route designed to test the truck in conditions close to real-world operations.
Powered by a 13-litre Super six-cylinder engine producing 500 hp and 2,650 Nm, combined with a 13-speed gearbox with overdrive, the Scania has to deal with a wide variety of road conditions while carrying 40 tonnes.
How does the Scania R 500 really perform when the road gets demanding?

💬 At 40 tonnes, would you choose the CRB alone or opt for Scania’s hydraulic retarder?
